Be a part of FatFace on its journey to sustainability
FatFace is a British clothing brand with over 200 shops in the UK and more than 20 in the United States. Sustainability is a core value for the brand, and they have made significant steps to help the environment, but there is still more to be done.
The clothes start their journey in ethical trading factories worldwide, where they are wrapped in recycled plastic bags and placed in cardboard boxes. These are then shipped to the UK, transported to the distribution centre, then driven to shops or remain in the distribution centre to service online customers.
FatFace needs your help to find a better method that will keep their products in the best condition whilst being kinder to the planet. They need a solution that will keep the clothing in tip-top condition right from the factory and into our customers wardrobes – a process that can take several months and several miles.
To be in with a chance to win for you and your school, your sustainable bag challenge must solve these points:
It must protect products from damp and dust whilst being transported
It must protect products when stored in the distribution centre
It must be able to have a barcode sticker on to scan in our distribution centre
It must be able to implement in factories around the world
It must be a cost-effective alternative in the long term
Can you solve FatFace’s sustainable bag challenge?
How to enter:
1. Get a team of up to six students together from your school.
2. Record a 90 second film describing your solution to the plastic bag challenge and covering the points listed above. Here are some questions to help you get started:
What are the advantages and drawbacks of your proposal?
Will your solution still protect our product quality?
What is the environmental impact of your solution?
What will your solution cost? Is it likely to be more expensive or cheaper in the long term?
3. Submit your team’s video presentation by email to firstname.lastname@example.org before the closing deadline on 22nd April 2022. If the video is too large for email we suggest you send it via WeTransfer or Dropbox.
Please note: Please make sure your team’s presentation is submitted before 4pm on Friday 22nd April 2022. Only one presentation will be accepted per team and entries received after the deadline will not be counted. All teams must be available to present a 15min pitch to a panel of judges virtually on April 29th in Green Skills Week, 10am-3pm.
Prize: £1,000 towards a green project in the chosen school and £100 FatFace voucher for each student in the winning team
