GREEN SKILLS WEEK

5th-9th April 2021

About the Campaign

By working with some of the world’s leading employers and speakers, Green Skills Week will inform and inspire young people to consider their future in the green economy, giving them practical advice and opening doors to unconsidered futures.

Green Skills Week will introduce young people to speakers and employers within industries where Green Skills are utilised and sign post them towards training and recruitment paths into those sectors.

A green revolution will require green skills, especially among younger people. Green Skills week is about fast streaming those skills and, with them, the green revolution.

Andy Haldane, Chief Economist, Bank of England.

Throughout March and April, we will be hosting the following opportunities as part of Green Skills Week:

Insights month

Host Broadcast talks by some of the most inspiring speakers to thousands of young people from influential global figures in green issues and sustainability, as well as matching individual schools with inspiring speakers for bespoke events.

Experience week

Facilitate thousands of Virtual Work Experience placements and Virtual Insight Days with employers from across sectors, focussing on the future opportunities that Green jobs offer.

Green courses

Provide a platform and events for universities, colleges and apprenticeship providers to signpost young people to green skills pathways and courses.

About Speakers for Schools

Green Skills Week is hosted and run by Speakers for Schools as part of our commitment to connect young people from all backgrounds across the UK to level up into new industries and future proof the next generation in a post-COVID economy.

Speakers for Schools was founded in 2010 by ITV’s Political Editor Robert Peston, and supported by the Law Family Charitable Foundation, with a mission to level the playing field for young people. It aims to end educational inequality by giving access to the same networks as the top fee-paying schools in the UK through inspirational talks and broadcasts, work placements, meaningful discounts and life-preparing opportunities.
